The four-year project “Responsible Conduct of Research – Research Integrity and Ethics in Georgian Universities (ETHICS)”, funded by the European Commission, will conclude with the European Conference on Ethics and Integrity in Academia (ECEIA 26), taking place in Batumi on 14–16 September 2026. The conference will provide an opportunity to disseminate the project’s final results and present them to the international academic community.
ECEIA 26 will bring together researchers working in the fields of academic and research integrity, academic and administrative staff, policymakers, doctoral students, and practitioners from across Europe and beyond. The conference will serve as an important platform for discussing contemporary challenges in ethics and integrity, sharing research findings and institutional practices, and exchanging experiences.
The final dissemination conference of the ETHICS project will be held in synergy with ECEIA 26. Presenting the activities implemented, results achieved, and resources developed within the project will be one of the key components of the conference. This will provide an important opportunity to disseminate the project’s outcomes not only within Georgia but also to the wider international academic community.
The ETHICS project is coordinated by Ilia State University. Its main objective has been to strengthen the culture of research ethics and integrity in Georgian higher education institutions, promote responsible research practices, and develop relevant institutional and educational mechanisms.
The ECEIA 26 programme will include presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and poster sessions. Key topics will include research ethics and integrity, ethical challenges related to artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, academic freedom, ethical publishing and authorship, post-plagiarism, teaching academic integrity, and institutional responsibility.
As part of the conference, dedicated sessions will focus on the ETHICS project, presenting its key results and the experience gained throughout its implementation. These sessions will provide an opportunity to reflect on the outcomes of the project’s four years of work, assess the progress achieved, and discuss ways to sustain and further develop the initiatives and practices established in the field of research ethics and integrity.
